Michael Bartschat was elected vice president and appointed Johnson Controls’ first chief procurement officer in July 2014.

As chief procurement officer, Mr. Bartschat leads an integrated enterprise global procurement function that leverages scale and optimizes the cost and value of purchased materials, products and services. His role drives standardization of best practices and world class processes, delivering savings to the business and increased value to shareholders.

Mr. Bartschat joined Johnson Controls in 2004. Prior to his appointment as chief procurement officer, he served as group vice president and general manager of product group metals and mechanisms, Automotive Seating at Johnson Controls. Previously, he led the transformation of the global purchasing organization for Automotive Seating, Interiors and Electronics.

Mr. Bartschat received a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School. He has a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering from MIT and a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University.
